Hiking The Long Trail Route 15 to Prospect Rock, revisited
Due to the dry spring that we are having this year, the girls and I went for a hike. Normally the trails are closed so they can dry out after mud season and so we don't destroy them. The closure is usually from April 15 to May 31, but like I said this year was different. We only encounter one patch of mud on the entire trip and it was only ten feet long and easily transverse.
I choose to go to Prospect Rock again because it was the first hike we did as a family when we moved to Vermont and this was the first time we took the trip from Route 15 to Prospect Rock since then. Before we would cheat and start out on Hogback Rd. The difference between the two start points is only a half mile and because we started on Route 15 we get to cross the bridge.
This hike was similar to the last time. We had little trouble hiking with the exception that we aren't quite in hiking shape anymore. This didn't stop us, it just slowed us down. This hike is still beautiful even without the green leafs on the trees. There is a primaeval beauty to Vermont and this hike shows off that beauty. I definitely recommend that everyone gets a chance to come to Vermont and take a hike in her forests.
