Burlington Bike Path
Another day, another non hike. Burlington has numerous bike trails and paths. We took the bike path that went along the waterfront from the Lake Champlain Community Sailing building to Harrison Ave. It is part of the Island Line Trail. Along the way we pass Waterfront Park, the ferry dock, the wastewater treatment plant, railroad tracks, along with businesses and homes. It is a very peaceful and beautiful path with artwork along the way. There is some damage to the trail from the lake flooding that occurred this past spring.
Getting the bikes to the path was easy. Pennie and Isabell both had a fun time. We had some tricky moments on the more damaged parts of the path, but no one fell off and no one hit anything. Trying to get around some of the people by Waterfront Park was more challenging. Due to the hot temps there were more than enough people cooling off at the waterfront, and most of them do not know what to do when they see a bike coming at them. No one was hurt though.
